In recognition of the invaluable role women play in the growth and progress of the nation, the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in partnership with Oman Energy Association (OPAL) and the Operating Companies in the sector, hosted the Unified Omani Women’s Day Celebration in the Energy & Minerals Sector. Held under the patronage of Her Highness Dr. Mona bint Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, the event brought together Ministers, Undersecretaries, and CEOs from leading companies to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Omani women in the industry.
The celebration aimed to shine a spotlight on the significant roles women hold within the energy and minerals sector, while also inspiring younger generations of women to pursue careers in these fields. The event also sought to unify efforts through a single celebration, bringing together the sector’s operating companies for the first time to strengthen relationships among female in the sector.
The celebration witnessed the launch of the Women Energy Award, the first of its kind, which aims to recognize the innovations and achievements of Omani women in the energy and minerals sector. This initiative reflects the high regard for women’s role in driving innovation and development within the industry.
The event featured two engaging panel discussions. The second panel, “Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics),” brought together women who have excelled in technical fields, offering inspiration to others and discussing ways to enhance opportunities for women in STEM.
